Football practice

It is hard to believe that baseball ended only last month and we are already on to football!! Last night was Lucas first football practice. They tried a couple weeks ago but it rained. It was held at Coach Rick's house, as he lives in the country and allowed them to test their skills at various zones.

I know it will sound shocking to everyone but Lucas did not fair so well on the 40 yard dash. He did however do very well at the break through and dummy tackling. Once they broke out into defense and offense practice Lucas was lined up right in the middle of the defensive line. Once practice was over Lucas wanted to know if he could practice as quarterback next time. Um, yeah we will see I said while scratching my head.
Here is Lucas at practice. Addi and I were camped out with the rest of the moms in the back.

Our nights will shortly be filled with drills, practice and my favorite uniform try-ons. They will again be the panthers and their uniforms are going to look like the high school teams. The boys were so excited to see some of the high school players at practice last night. It was cute to see the little guys be so in ah of the big high school players. I was even impressed with how nice and motivated the high school kids were to work with the little guys.
The league will be a bit different this year as Harrisonville has left CCJAA and gone off to join Warrensburg so CCJAA is now going to play some games in every division against Blue Valley. This should be interesting. The schedule will be out in August and I will pass it along to everyone. Games will be on Saturday's but should be a little later in the days as we have moved up to tackle. Yes, tackle. That means pads, helmets and heart stealing moments in the short term. One of the moms reminded me last night that it really is better for them to have on helmets and pads considering how they went at it last year.
