You know the old saying that everything good must end. I can tell you it stinks having to try and explain that to an 8 year old. Today we played the team that until last week was ranked first in the division all year. They saw their first defeat lat week. This wekk they handed us our first defeat of the season.
Lucas handled it much better this year then last but it hurt. It hurt to see the boys out there not getting the plays pulled off as we should of. It hurt knowing we could of won, it just was not our day. I would love a rematch, I would take it any day of the week but it is not going to happen until next year.
The stats will all have to be calculated and figured to see where the ranking will end up. We are not a shoe in for 1st any longer but it is going to be close. I will let you know.
Well off to pack up the catcher's gear for baseball practice tomorrow.

Week 7
This was a big week of football. Our quarterback Blake suffered a bone bruise to his arm at practice on Thursday. Everyone was thankful it was not broken and Blake wanted to make sure he played Sunday. PaPa and grandma Trish were in town for the game and Luke was excited.
Things were going well through the first half. Then this play happened.
Cronk went down crying, his arm was killing him. He was sacked hard. I tried to be helpful and thrown the bag of ice from Aunt Carrie's cooler out to the coach but it slid out of my hand and I looked like the biggest fool ever, seriously it was like I had never thrown a ball in my life. I have to put this in here because I want to see how many years that story lives on.
Luke played on defense this week and did very well. He got a big push back from a kid only once. He felt really good about his game.
With this win 37-0 the Tigers are in first place all by themselves. The only undefeted game in the league now. Next week is the final game of the season, don't miss it!

Pumpkin Patch 2010
After the football game and before baseball practice we headed over to the pumpkin patch for our annual trip to find the best pumpkins. The kids love all the activities they have including the pumpkin launcher. I have to admit it is pretty darn awesome to see a pumpkin shoot out of the gun fly across the sky and land in the pond.
Our official wheelbarrow pusher himself. Every year one of the kids knock of the wheelbarrow in an attempt to help dad out. This year I was no exception except for the fact that it was not our kid or kids that did it. This little boy about four ran smack into the thing and raised up on the arm and well there it went. I had to laugh out loud because it happened on our way back to the tractor to take us up to leave. I don't know why but Jeremy did not laugh when it happened.

Everyone loved to play on the slides and mazes and toys around the farm.

Football 10-17-10
Sunday football. What a beautiful day. We have had some wonderful football weather this year. I don't have very many pictures from the game because of this crazy thing on the field.

RRRR....it really was right in the way of every good play of the game.
Luke did not have his best game. He said his ankle hurt and was running weird on it, even weirded then he usually runs if you can image that. He had some good tackles but nothing fantastic.

Here is our little cheerleader. GO TIGERS!

Flocking
A few weeks ago Addi's preschool started a fund raiser. It is the coolest idea ever. I read about it a few years ago and always wondered how one could pull it off and I think a preschool is a great idea. You flock for money someone's yard. They are left with wonderfully decorated flamingo's for a night. Then you can pay to have them removed and placed somewhere else.
Addi really liked the idea of the flamingos so I decided to pay to have one of the families she goes to school with yard done as well as the neighbors so the kids could see the fun. Everyone loved it. They were so cute.

I think it was funny to see all the adults in their yards at 10pm on a Sunday also reading the sheets and wondering what had happended to them. Especially Bret who just loves his yard. I made note of it on the sheet so they spread them out everywhere.
This morning we woke up to our own flocking. The family Addi goes to school with flocked us back. The kids were so excited this morning. I felt bad they were rained on but they still looked great.

If you live in Raymore, you never know when the flocking may hit you!
Week 5 football
Saturday night lights!! Everyone was so excited to play under the lights. It was the first time in a couple of years.
Luke had an amazing game!! He did great blocking work. Started on defense and played most of the first half. He has that running issue down.
Then he got the only funble recovery of the game!! It was so awesome. I was shooting pictures and the play was over before Irealized it was even Luke.
He loves to tell the story of how the other kid was hitting and yelling for him to let go of the ball but he held it tight. The other guy even used his shoulder pad into his arm but he did not let go.

1st Pedicure
I had a conference last week and was on my feet for what seemed like an eternity. The bottoms of my feet hurt so bad it was not funny. There is only one thing to do in a time like this, get a pedicure. I decided it would be fun to take Addi. I really am not sure there is a more girly girl than here out there so I was hoping she would enjoy it. I was afraid she would freak out or not be patient for them to do it. She LOVED every single part of it. She about had a heart attack when she had to pick out her polish. There was so many to choose from. Then they wash her feet, of she loved that. They put a litle flower on each big toe for her so she was smiling from ear to ear.
Here is what she looked like the entire time

She told EVERYONE in there that she took dance. I told her we would come back closer to her recitle and do it again. This could get very expensive in my future!

Baseball 2010
Today marked the first day of baesball. Yes, you read that right. Baseball started today. It ofically started 30 minutes after the football game ended.
I can say for certian that if baseball was not his first love there is no way we would even be thinking about it right now. The fact is Luke loves baseball. Regardless of the time of year he has baseball on the brain. This year he is going to play with many of the kids from his team last year, which was a great team and most importanly the same coach. Coach Cronk is the pitching coach for Rockhurst University. He is so amazing when it comes to his ability to teach these kids and I do love his organization!!
Lucas was so excited about getting to baseball this afternoon and did wonderful. For the next month they are only going to focus on pitching. This will be his first year with kid pitch ball and there are a ton of rules about how many pitches each player can play in a game, how many innings and then the simple fact you want to make sure you have some good kids pitching in the first place or you are going to have one painful game on your hands.
Starting in November we will move to an indoor facility in Lee's Summit so that should make for some intersting evenings but when summer comes we are all so happy to have games to go to it will be worth it.
They will travel for competitive and tournament play so if we are in your neck of the woods we will give you a shout!!

Football 10-3-10
Today's game marked mid season for us. We knew it would be a tough game. We were playing the top ranked team in our division. No one in the prior three weeks had scored against them. We played our biggest interleague rivals the first week and the score was 24-12 so we were in second as we have not lost but we were playing a team so good that no one had even scored against them. Lucas lost his starting defense position before the game when he was caught walking out to warm up instead of run and then the coach was even more mad that he pulled Luke because he was freaked out about getting scored on early. Apparently after the game there was a promise made about never walking again and Luke going back to starting defense. I guess all is right in the universe again regarding that little fact.
So the game, play two of the game we ran the ball in for a touch down. Very nice start. All was great until the second quarter which was the looongest quarter of football I have ever seen. There was a flag thrown and aparently some serious issues with the refs because the game was stopped for no less than 15 minutes to figure out what to do.
It was tied 14-14 at half time. The second half went well, our defense did its job and our ofense looked polised.
In the end we wond 24-14.
