Summer time

This summer the rain has come almost every day and the weather is unbelievable. Right now we don't have the air on and we are not dying of heat strokes. Here are some pictures of the pond. It is amazing how clean the water is and how big the plants and lillie pads are. It is also amazing how bill the frog in the pond is now. It is very hard to get a picture of the frog but I tell you it is almost too big to sit on the biggest lillie pads now. What a summer to remember.

He is no longer a puppy!! Max is so big now.

The airport

Grandma Ann went to California this week and Jeremy was kind enough to take her to and from the airport. Tonight was the night that she came home. The kids loved seeing her get off the plane.
We are all glad you had a wonderful vacation Grandma Ann.

Football Camp

This week Lucas had football camp at the high school. Lucas had a blast and so did Jeremy. Lucas did very very well at camp. I was surprised at how quickly he caught on and how impressed the coaches were with him. Lucas is very excited to have football season back. Thursday night they got to experience a day in the life of a Ray-Pec football player. They started off in the locker room preparing for the game, watching file, getting a pep talk before they took the field. Then they had to stretch before they started playing the game. They broke them down by age and then divided them into two teams. Lucas was coached by the head coach and really liked him. It was so cute to watch. Addi was in the stands the entire time cheering him on while playing with her baby dolls.

Here they are running out of the tunnel Taking the field The huddle

Stretching before the game Starting on the defensive line

The man will take anyone down.

Guess we should talk about playing fair.

Football practice officially starts tomorrow and pre-season is the last Saturday in August. I hope to have a schedule soon and the jersey's have been ordered. The excitement is building already!

Tooth UPDATE

Still loose, never coming out, too attached to having a loose tooth, no longer wants it to come out, just to have something to play with forever.

Yep, that about sums up Lucas state of mind regarding his tooth. He does not want it to come out until right before football camp in the evenings so we have a two minute crisis right before we leave. It is still in there, and will most likely stay until the weekend.

G-Force

Sunday we took the kids to see G-Force the latest 3D movie out.
I really was not a big believer in 3D after all I grew up in the day of red and blue 3D glasses and thought they were more of a bother than something cool. Oh how the times have changed. We all loved it! Loved it so much! I am so excited for the other 3D movies to come out this fall and winter. Addi loved the glasses and Lucas has memoriezed several lines from the movie already.

Loose tooth

This morning at breakfast I thought I noticed a bit of an odd tooth in Lucas mouth. I was not for sure and Lucas has been freaked out for at least the last six months about not having lost a tooth yet so I decided not to say anything. This afternoon we were wrestling around on the floor and I thought, this is my chance. I put my finger in his mouth and yep, it was loose. I asked him what was wrong with his tooth. He felt it, finally found the one I was talking and instantly freaked out. He was so excited. He was so very excited. He reminded us that he had waited his whole life for this.

It has to be at least two days from being ready to come out and oh how I think it will be a long two days!!

It is a tooth on the bottom right just off center.

I can't wait for the first cute little hole in his mouth. I would also like to note I am not sure why holding ones mouth open causes ones eye to look like they are on NyQuil but this is about the fifth picture of him just like this.

This is now where you can find Lucas for about forty minutes out of every hour. He only goes in for a couple minutes at a time but he just can't stay away.

More to come soon.........................................................hopefully no tales of pliers or string to a door knob or a tooth coming out in an apple.

Friday night

By the time Friday night rolls around in our neighborhood we are pretty much worn out. We work and no one seems to work close to where we live so on Friday we get stuck in the lake traffic on the way home and we haul kids from place to place all week. This summer we started to all get together. No invite no obligation but if you are home on Friday night come on outside and we will come to your place or you can come to ours. We call it adult beverage night. It is great, very relaxing. We get to keep in touch with each other and what happenings are going on around the neighborhood and town. I decided early on in the summer that while this is wonderful for us it is not so extra special for the kids. I decided to invest in some water balloons for the kids. Every Friday night we fill up two buckets of water balloons and let them go at it. As the summer has gone on we have added water guns to the mix and the fun has grown.
Here are the neighborhood kids getting ready for the water balloon fight.
I know it would not work in every one's neighborhood and I am so thankful we have such great people on our block.
Addi really got into it.
I know the kids will be so sad when the summer is over and all the water is a thing of the past. i will be sad as adult beverage time will come to an end for the winter. Well got to make it through another week so we can enjoy what Friday night adult beverage nights we have left.

They call me spike

This week Lucas attended the Ray-Pec soccer camp. The high school coach and the varsity team members put on a camp all week for the kids to attend to learn more about soccer and some very cool soccer tricks. Lucas has been very excited all summer to attend. He has taken on a sudden interest in soccer and thinks it would be pretty cool to play.
He really picked up quickly to what they were teaching and even got the nick name Spike. That was because of his awesome hairdo.
Yeah, that is Lucas on the ground trying to save the ball for his time. Apparently learning no hand contact is a touch thing for him to pick up on.
Here is Lucas and his good buddy Noah. They were so excited to find out they were going to be on the same team this night. Noah could not believe Lucas had never played soccer before.
Lucas loved being goalie. He said after the first night he could not believe they ran all the time after the same ball. He came home the second night and said he figured out that the goalie does not to run so much and that they get to dive on the ground and can touch the ball.

But this was the best part of being goalie. They got to kick the ball. He loved the kicking.

Have a feeling we will be giving soccer a try in the early spring before baseball starts. The rest of us will try to spend our time getting as excited as Addi and Lucas are.

Packing a lunch

Tonight when I was making Lucas lunch for camp tomorrow I asked Lucas if he had a drink in his lunch box. I recalled off the top of my head that I did not put a water bottle or box drink in his lunch.
Lucas quickly responded that no I did not put a drink in his lunch today nor did I put one in his lunch on Monday. Ohhh, bad mom moments. That was quickly followed up by this....
Yeah, I guess I should be happy that you remembered my sandwich so I was not starting and dying of thirst.
Hey, hey I am not that bad. I got no answer to that as he walked out of the room..........
Tonight I tripped checked for a complete lunch so yes on Wednesday of this week Lucas will have a complete lunch.

Man, I can't wait for school to start-at least then the cafeteria can save me if need be on take your lunch days!!

Lake Day

Today we headed back out to Smithville Lake with Grandma Jan and Char. Hunter was nice enough to join us. It was so much fun. The weather was wonderful. We laid around in the shade and took turns on the jet ski. Addi said the entire way up there that she was going on the tube and she and Grandma Char got out there. It was so cute to watch. Yeah, this is where I would put a picture also if I took my camera down to the water. Snack time. After all that time swimming and raft ridding it is important to refuel with some peanuts and drinks.

Ah, a good snack and laying out in the sun.

It was a wonderful relaxing day. I can't wait until we can do it again.

Deanna Rose Day Trip

The weather has been beyond beautiful this weekend, well really this last week but I noticed more this weekend. We decided to spend some good quality time outside. Saturday afternoon we headed over to Deanna Rose. What a good choice this was. The kids loved every second of it. They spent so much time feeding the goats and looking all the animals over, up and down and asking questions. Questions, questions, questions.

I think Addi and Lucas would tell you the goats were the best. I mean after all you can throw food at the fish. You can look at the prairies dogs. You can stare at the bunny rabbits and you can oink at the pigs but goats, you can get in a feed the goats.
Addi rationed her food bits out to deserving goats. Before we headed into the petting area we stopped and feed some goats threw the fence. Addi would point to a goat and if it came to the fence she would give it one food bit. If it did not take to being yelled at and did not walk to the fence we did what we could to redirect her attention to another goat.

I will say, I never saw a goat get more then one piece of food out of her. We then headed into the petting area. Jeremy gave her a quick lesson on how to feed them and then she was off.

This goat here started off so nice and cute. Then he turned on Addi. Once Addi gave him his tid bit of food and went to walk away the goat was not so happy. He started chewing on her clothes. I wish I could of gotten a picture of it but I put my camera down to help her out. Not that she needed the help. She did not freak out, she did not scream. She simply yelled at the goat to let go. LET GO MY CLOTHES. Jeremy stepped in and pulled her clothes out of the goats mouth and move Addi away. Goodness was she mad. Lucas loved feeding the little goats. Here he found one baby to feed. He did so good at taking his time and making sure they got the food all the way in their mouth before he pulled his hand away. Once we were in the petting zoo he helped this little boy out that was so scared of the goats feed them. It was so cute to watch, you know considering Addi did not need nor want help.
Lucas day was made early on though. They have a bald eagle their, it is one of the first things you get to see. Lucas loves bald eagles.
This is not the bald eagle on display, it is a real life one. This is a wood carving next to the display. Oh yeah, and that is a bug on his face. What are the odds.

VBS

This week Lucas attended Vacation Bible School at Papa Clay's church. Tonight the parents were invited to attend the program to show what they learned all week. Lucas had a wonderful time at VBS this week and really loved every second of staying with Papa Clay in the afternoon after VBS was done.

They learned five different songs and Lucas was pretty awesome in his dancing and his singing was not too bad.

As always Lucas was quick to make friends. Tonight we were able to meet a few of his new friends. Joey and Lucas really seemed to hit it off very well. You can see Joey in some of the pictures where they are singing. He is blond with his hand in the air and the blue shirt. I am sure there teacher had an active morning with them all there.

The theme was Boomerang VBS so everything was Australian based. Lucas knows many facts about Australia as well as many new Bible stories.

Snack please

I have decided it does not matter what time of day I pick Addi up at she is going to need a snack. I picked her up a little early one day this week while they were still eating snack, she was actually on her second helping of apples when I arrived. We drove the seven minutes to our house and by the time we walked in the door she was STARVED!! She just had to have a snack. She found some peanuts and was on her way to snack bliss.

Peanuts, oh how those are a favorite of hers. I really think that is the only reason she likes to go to the Royals game. I am not sure if she enjoys the peanut more of the cracking of she shell.

Don't worry we are have been very careful to make sure she does not have too many and has never shown a sign of an allergic reaction, just smiles ear to ear time and time again.

Carpet

There is no way this picture is going to do the carpets justice but look at them. Can you see it? That is correct, you can't not one spot to be had. I cleaned the carpets this week. Tuesday night to be exact.
A little over a week from Lucas party. You see that is the delima that rages in my head. To clean the carpets before or after the birthday party. I opted for after this year. I figure it lets me relax more during the party because then it is no big deal in my head if someone spills something because I know I am going to clean them. The delima in my head does not end once I clean the carpets a week after a party though. You see the carpet looks so good very good right now that I am bummed no one got to see it, sit on it, look it over and think man this place is clean.
I guess in the end I am trying to make myself feel better by posting the picture to prove I can clean so carpet!! See were not dirty people-although in order to believe that you would have to be far from there while the cleaning carpet process is going on because that water is gross!!! Maybe next year I will clean before and see how I fair during the party.................

You may remember about a month ago that we went to the lake on a beautiful hot summer day. Grandma Char took some great pictures as she opted out of tubbing and kept her jet ski rides pretty tame. That gave her some time to snap some great pictures. She then very quickly gave me a disc of her pictures. I then very promptly put it in the car and there it sat, and sat and sat. I now have a clean car and you now have a scrapbook of our lake trip.

Man I can't wait until we get back out there.....I think there may be another trip in the works now that Bertha has been retrived from the doctor. I hear it is much like visiting one of our doctors. It was a virus, now pay us.

Happy 7th

Today Lucas turned 7. He headed off to camp with a great big smile on his face. It was so cute to see him so excited to be 7. When he got home this evening we hurried to make our dinner reservation at fire on the table. To some people it is known as Go-Jo's. I think being 7 means a bigger appetite because Lucas ate any and every piece of shrimp in sight. His plate was pratically licked clean.

I thought since he is 7 now it would be a good time to look back at the younger Lucas.

Lucas age 3. Lucas use to love running outside after daddy got home from hunting. Lucas and his first pair of roller skates.
