Summer hair

Well yesterday afternoon Jeremy took Lucas to get his hair cut. They were both in need of a trim. Lucas opted for more than just a trim.
Yes he opted for the full mohawk this year. It is super skinny and he is very into doing the spike up in the morning. I have already ruled out getting liberty spikes. Thank goodness I took care of that right off the bat. I can't wait for him to grow out of this phase!!And here is a crazy kid pictures. He does love his hair.
Here is one of Addi and Daddy. Addi was not into the crazy today.

Happy Birthday Grandma Ann

Today was Grandma Ann's birthday. Ah, how nice for that to be know to the www. I am sure she would want every to know she is now ..

Ha, Christmas is coming people I want presents no way I am putting a number in there

Well GG took us out to dinner at Jess and Jim's because Lucas wanted steak and yes he did eat it. Addi had the slowest motion fall out of a chair I have ever seen but recovered without any crying. There was no more sitting in that chair for the rest of dinner however. Other than that the baked potato was more than anyone could eat the steak was marvelous and Grandma seemed to enjoy her birthday.

At the house we followed Lucas strick birthday rules and had cake, candles and singing. Lucas decided not to bake a cake this year but to have the lady at Price Chopper write on one the thought was pretty.

Look at those cheeks, congrats on blowing out all the candles.

Stupid Allergies

Jeremy took Lucas to the doctor today because really he is no better. I felt so bad for him last night at the game. The first game he was playing short stop and the second he was catcher. I was almost sure by the middle of the second game it was an allergy problem and not a virus. When we got home Lucas pretty much curel up in the chair and tried to go to sleep, without even taking a shower. Grandma Jan spent the night at our place and felt him. She thought he had a fever and thought maybe it was a sinus infection. Yikes, we were so worried about him. I gave him some Zyrtec and Aunt Carrie brought over some singular.

This morning Jeremy took him to the doctor and after what he called a good lookin over they said it was all allergy related. His throat is red because of the drainage from his nose and ears. His ears are draining a ton. He has no sinus pressure and is most likely coughing because he does not blow his now. Jeremy left with new prescriptions and a plan. Thank goodness!!!

I feel so bad that of all the things I could have given him I have managed to only pass on my ability to produce vast amounts of body hair, big feet and allergies. Good grief why could I pass along something awesome??

I hope the meds start working soon and he is back to himself. I still can't believe I thought it was a virus when I have bad allergies also.

Guess there will be some allergy testing in my future..................yikes!

Back to work

Lucas should be playing right beside Addi at this moment-at Addi's daycare. Thank goodness. I have to say I was afraid to go into his room this morning and wake him up. He did pretty good yesterday afternoon and then at dinner he started coughing and started complaining he did not feel good. He had a very hard time going to sleep last night. I am thinking this is a two pronged problem one being a virus and the other being an allergy issue. We gave him medicine for both last night and this morning he was doing pretty good.

He did not complain about not feeling well this morning which is a huge improvement. I tell you I just don't have much practice with sick kids. Lucas is typically sick for a day then all better the next morning-this thing kicked both our butts!!

I am sitting at work right now starting down stacks and stacks of paper. My bewitched powers have yet to kick in so I guess I will be doing my best to knock out the work on my own today..............let the fun begin.

Sick guy

I am at home again today with a sick guy. Lucas started feeling bad yesterday evening and by bedtime he was down right sick again. I don't understand. If it was a virus she should have been sick the entire time. He has been asleep since 5 when he came in our room. I gave him some medicine as now he says his throat is the problem. I thought it was an allergy issue but he also is practically crying that his body hurts. urrrr!! Why can't I figure this out? I dread taking him to the doctor and hearing it is a virus but unless he is better when he wakes up that is where we are headed.

I decided to let Addi stay home today. If I have to take Lucas to the doctor I can always take her to the sitter then. I cleaned her room this morning and got our the rest of her summer clothes. It is only going to be 70 something today so it was really pointless. It turns out that cleaning her room was actually more pointless because she came up to check it out and has dumped every since toy tub and taken all the covers off her bed-right after I made it.

I guess it would be too easy to have a productive day home from work.

Well off to check on Lucas again.....

St. Louis

Memorial Day weekend-a long weekend-the start of summer-what could be better than a mini vacation and some baseball?

We headed to St. Louis Saturday and stayed until Sunday night. We caught the last game of the Royals v Cardinals series. The Royals has lost the first two games of the season so we were not planning on much of a game. I am happy to say the Royals avoided the sweep. We won 3-2. Thank goodness. We happily put on our Royals gear and heard time and time again at the stadium how it was nice of us to come watch the sweep. Urrr!! Don't worry we walked out of Bush Stadium with our head held high and smiles ear to ear.

When we got there Saturday we headed straight for the Magic house. This is a memory for me as a kid. I loved this place. I was very happy to see that they have added on to the original building-more than doubling it from when I was a kid and the inside is now bright and cheery, instead of that lovely 70's brown I remember. The rooms are totally different and fun for all. Everyone had a really great time. I think we are going to have to head back for a longer visit. They practically had to kick us out at closing time!
They have a Once Upon a Time display. The kids loves the Beauty and Beast display.

The Magic House is probably most famous for the electric ball that makes your hair stand up. Lucas is sure that if he had a mohawk it would have worked better. Everyone but Addi thought her hair was awesome!!

The Magic House is about 20 minutes from downtown. As we left Lucas started to ask about the arch. If he could see it from the car, what it was made of, who put it together, if they ever take it down, if it goes over the river, when were we going to take him down there, what do they use it for, why did they put it in St. Louis.............and on..........and on...............and on..............we had just learned that the average 5 year old asks 437 questions a day. I am pretty sure Lucas was above average at age 5. It did not say how many a 6.5 year old asked but I am pretty sure it is not less!! He finally got to see the arch from the car. He was impressed at how large it was. From the time we got to the hotel it was a major delima for him to decide swimming or arch. Addi was no assistance as she had her heart set on swimming and swimming only. The mean parents opted for Old Spaghetti Factory. It was within walking distance and man those meatballs are awesome.

Addi was on board with the if you eat your spaghetti you can go swimming plan. That spaghetti was basically inhaled and the stomach was close to exploding but she got to go swimming. We did walk back to the hotel via the arch so Lucas was happy. It was dark by then and hard to see so we told him we would come back Sunday morning.

Sunday after breakfast where Freebird (Cardinals mascot) made a visit, we headed to the arch for the inside tour. Oops, major problem the next tour was not until noon. Too close to the game for us to go. I thought Lucas was going to do a happy dance. He was not pleased with the plan of actually going up to the top. His interest ended at ground level!!

A nice river walk-well almost- the river is at flood stage and the city crews were trying to get the mud from the water that had washed up on the sidewalk and road back to the river. Addi and I thought it was very yucky. Lucas thought it was mud puddle heaven!!

Over to the game for what turned out to be a 9th inning victory-thank goodness.
A brief glove handling lesson. Don't worry Lucas assured Addi he would catch a foul ball for her if it came in front of her.

Back home after dinner-did I mention I could not imagine road tripping without a DVD player?? Now we just have to get Addi use to wearing headphones so we can listen to the radio-but no complaints with the current plan!!

Ending 1st grade

Lucas had a rather sad ending to first grade this morning. When getting ready for school today he was super excited about turning into a 2nd grader after today and we discussed all the wonderful end of year activities they had planned today. A picnic, a water fight, yearbook signing and an extra recess. While walking into the school he mentioned his stomach felt weird and I told him he just needed to eat some breakfast.
I brushed it off mainly because I was carrying a leaking 2liter into the school for the picnic. It fell out of my car and onto the ground and started spraying everywhere. See the signs for a bad a day were in front of me and I did not pay attention. The other flashing warning sign was Addi pooped her pants at his school and was screaming about getting back into her car seat but I did not one wipe or change of anything for her.
I was at work just starting to sort out my in box when the call came in. I fear any Raymore number on my work phone. I picked it up with the dreaded hell-o. This is the nurse at Raymore Elementary. Lucas has pucked all over the gym. Oh my gosh, I am the worse mom ever is what runs through my mind. I rush right over to school.
On the way over I start to think about the poor little guy. I realize he is going to be the talk of many dinner tables tonight as the kid that threw up all over the place today. It did not help any that when I picked him up he threw up all over the entry way.
I am hoping for a speedy recovery so he can enjoy the beginning of his summer!!
I am also hoping for a short memory on the part of the kids at school so when he starts summer school in two weeks no one remembers this day.
Now he is sad about missing the picnic, water fight and telling his teacher good by. Yeah, Ms. Bolding came up to him when he was leaving and that is the exact moment he started yacking everywhere. Missed her my a centimeter!! What an end to First Grade!!

Summer is coming

I think everyone around here is starting to realize that summer is just around the corner. Lucas asked last week when the pool would be open. I tried to explain that the pool being open and being able to actually get in the water are two different things, at least in my mind, but he did not buy it.

Since that conversation in the car Addi has been hooked on swimming. Our latest swimming adventure was last month in California and Addi loved every second of it. She even threw a small fit when we were not able to swim the day we left for home. I think telling her we were going on an airplane was what fixed it. She loves the water and loves her Elmo swimsuit and skirt. After all the girl loves her fashion.

Yes, Addi has been looking forward to more swimming. For some reason this entered her mind again Monday evening when we were playing outside. She took her lifejacket and new fold up chair and headed down the side walk to go to the pool. She did not want any help from anyone and did not want to hear from us that there was no swimming yet. She was not intersted in hearing that she had to come back home. Being the strong headed little girl that she is once I put it away in the garage she got it back out. That is when I took a moment to snap a quick little picture of her and her luggage headed down the street.

This is how I invision my summer......working, picking kids up, changing clothes and biking down to the pool. To be honest I can not think of anything more fun....at least right now until I have made twenty trips down there and then we will see.

One good thing is that once the summer heat comes I should be able to breathe again because all pollen producing items will have been killed by the sun!!!

Field Day

Field Day did occur on Monday. Thank goodness. Even though I had to miss it I am so glad there were enough parents to volunteer. That is another saga for another post, that will most likely be written in my head.

Lucas had a blast. He said he got to do all 19 activities. One of which was face painting. Yes, a Field Day today consists of face painting. After all they have to have some activities that do not involve a winner and a looser. Lucas said he was close to winning the 100 yard dash but a few kids finished first in his race. I did not ask how many was a few.

Lucas was a very willing participant in the sign your shirt tradition. Lucas friend from next door Marisa is a 4th grader and will be moving on to Eagle Glen next year for 5th and 6th grade. He said he wanted her to be fist to sign his shirt since it was her last time. He said he was also glad she was going to get home earlier than him next year from school because it takes her a long time to change her clothes to be ready to play after school and now she should be ready when he gets home. I hope he finds a very patient girl to marry one day!

Digital scrapbooking

Today was a day of house cleaning, yard fixing and Addi rangling. I did finally find a few minutes to create some digital scrapbooks. I have given up on being able to scrapbook albums for my kids lives. I do think I can digital scrapbook my heart out thought. I hope you enjoy. There should be more to come once I can peel Addi off the ceiling. Who would have thought feeding her left over pizza for dinner would give her this boost of energy???

No Field Day

Yesterday I was off work to participate in Lucas Field Day. This has been a very big deal to him all year. He started asking me if I would work Field Day on the first day of school. I told him no problem. I took the day off and was ready to work all day. At the very last minute Thursday they cancelled Field Day for Friday and moved it to Monday. Total bummer because I can't work it on Monday. It is one of the few days out of the year that I have to work. No exception, drag your sick kid or self or dog to work but be there. I hate it and Lucas hates it even more. I am just hoping that next year will go smoother and they will have it on the day scheduled. Now the crisis per the phone calls Friday afternoon is that they don't have enough volunteers to work on Monday. Geez. It is a bit upsetting because it did not start raining until after 5 on Friday evening. I know it is a huge delima for them to go for it or not when less than perfect weather is set but geez did they miss this one.

I know as soon as the calendar comes out next year Lucas is going to want me to take off the entire week so I can be sure to work field day.

Oh well better luck next year. Wonder if they will let me wear my shirt from this year next year???

Beautiful girl

Look at this cutie. The Stiners and Collins came over Friday night for Pizza and visiting.
We all had a wonderful time. Look at this cutie.
Addi loved every second of Nevie. She almost bursts with excitement when she is able to sit and hold her. We even asked her if Nevie came for a visit on Saturday and she went on and on telling us every little detail in her own words and hand movements. It was so cute.
Corben is such a rock star. He is very patient with everyone wanting to hold Nevie and see his little sister but you can read it all over his face, he would prefer to be the one holding her-keeping her all to himself. What a great big brother he will be.

Baby night

Tonight is baby night. Yeah, you all are highly mistaken and sick for letting your mind wander there. Baby night as in my cousin is coming over with her brand new (2 months old) baby girl. Oh yeah, the rest of her family and parents are coming over but lets not lose sight of what is really important here.

Jen is going to bring Nevie over to our place to hang out. I already snuck over to see them when they made it to town on Wednesday. I took the kids and Addi is in love. She talked about Nevie to her daddy all night. She said that Nevie was not naughty. That is a good thing for Nevie because her baby dolls are naughty and man is that punishment severe! I hope to get some pictures of them tonight. I forgot my camera in my rush to Lee's Summit Wednesday so I have to get some good ones tonight so I can post them.

On another note, Jen is coming over tonight so I am going to make her show me what is up with my inability to format my blogs the way I want. She has no idea this one is coming but once I have her at my place-mine, all mine. I will try to bribe her with some baby clothes for her little one.

I can't believe it but this is my 51st blog. That means this year alone I have manged to post 50 blogs, some more wonderful than others but a blog none the less. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have. I am still on a mission to get more bloggers out there. There seems to be a ton of people moving away right now so I would love it if I could get them to blog. It is so hard to talk on the phone with two kids. Not that I don't want to but the days of sitting on the couch hanging out on the phone-distant memory. As in a memory that has cob webs on it.

Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend!!

Game night

Tonight Lucas had another game. The field had completely dried out from the rain earlier in the day and it was a humid as a July day. Not one parent complained. We were all happy the rain did not interfer again.

Lucas started off as pitcher for this game. Our competation was a team made up of half 8 year olds and 6.5 year olds like our entire team. Our cather only made it for two innings. It is hard work being catcher and those balls really fly if you don't catch them. We moved on to our second catcher of the game. He did really well, actually I thought he was quiet a natural. He had one ball get away from him and it hit him directly on his knee. His dad and Coach Long tried to tell him to walk it off. He made it though the entire inning but called that done. We sent out another cathcer for the next innings. He hated it from the first pitch, but made made it though the inning. Then it was Lucas turn. He remembered to stay down and was great at getting up and getting the mask off tonight. He was happy with his catching and so were we.

I see purching some knee savers in my near future, you know like Saturday.

First game

Last night Lucas actually had a game. There was a lousy drizzle through the entire game but they got it all in. The score was just about as lousy 12-3, yeah we lost. I really do think a lot of it had to do with the fact it rained all the time in April so many of practices did not occur. I also want to give the other team full credit for getting the use of a gym in Harrisonville school to practice in nightly. That was good thinking on their part, I have to remember that for next year.

I promised pictures but really I sort of lied about that. I had the best intentions in all of the world but I forgot to take pictures when Lucas was at bat. I was too busy chearing. Lucas got the first score for our team for the year, again no picture. I did get some pictures of him catching. He did not last the entire game, a lot of that has to do with him needing to get his legs in shape. I think he forgot about all the up and down. He does love being catcher though.

We are to have another game Thursday, given the forecast I doubt that will happen. I will put some more pictures up after our next game-whenever that is.

Monday, May 4, 2009

Tomorrow could be the big day. Lucas may actually get to play a baseball game. I know that there is still a chance of rain in the forecast but we are all crossing our fingers that we can actually get the season under way tomorrow. Hope for no showers until evening!!

I promise to post nice pics if we have a game!!!

Blogging issues

I love blogging I really do but something is up with the formating of my pictures when I try to upload them today. urrrrr. It really is enough to make a person nuts. In order to make myself feel better here is a cute picture of the kids. Ahh, breathe deep and look at these cuties. I will try to get my unknown issue resolved and be back in no time.

Spring Days

It appears that spring has finally decided to say. We were able to get out yesterday and really enjoy the day. We planted some flowers, vegetables and strawberries. I have a feeling everyone is going to be a bit disappointed in the strawberries as they will not be like the ones from the grocery store but it is worth the experience.

After we planted everything we had a nice portion of the day left to play outside. Lucas and I were able to play catch for a while, which is now more than just two

gloves and one ball. Then we have monkey see monkey do.
