Start of Baseball

This is the Rascals first year of competitive baseball. We are a team made up of 8-9 year old baseball lovin boys. I say we because really all eleven sets of parents love the game as much as they do.
The Rascals play in a 10 and under league. That means we play boys that are two years deep into pitching. That can be an issue this year for us but it is going to take time and learning to overcome.
We had our first game against one of the same teams we played against in the indoor winter league. Trust me there is a wide range of other teams we could of started out playing but who would want to start the season easy.
It was a cold windy night and we were really not ready for starting the season out this way. Lucas had on a long sleeve shirt under his jersey but none of the rest of us even had a jacket to wear. We made it through but it made a long game painful.
Our pitching was okay, not great. It is hard to throw when it is cold and I can only imagine how difficult when you are the first on the mound for the first time in your life in a real game. Blake would not want it any other way!
There were only two hits in the entire game, a lot of walks and a couple of hit kids. That is taking both kids into account.
Lucas was able to score and even steal a base along the way.

This is going to be a season of learning but the boys are happy to play and learn. We are lucky to have Coach Cronk to take them on this journey and have enjoyed our share of wins and loses so far. Come on out to the ballpark!!
