Football game 10-17-09

Another cold Saturday means another football game around here. Really the weather was 100% better then it was last week. They played at one of the Blue Valley High School fields so the boys were very very excited. They even looked a little exhausted after they ran in their touchdowns. They continue the winning streak with a 19-6 finish.

Right in the middle of everything

Checking things out from the stands.

This poor kid never had a chance. Good thing the ball never made it to him.

Ready to block

Snowy soccer

Saturday we headed up to Maryville early in the morning before Lucas afternoon game to catch the last soccer game of the season for Gwynn. It was not the game we expected to see when we were plotting out which game we could make. It was snowing!! Snowing I say up there. It was windy, cloudy and cold on top of that but it was my first soccer game in the snow!! Lucas loved watching her play, she even got to be goalie the entire time we were up there. Lucas thinks goalie is the best position on a soccer team.

The weather did get Lucas wondering about his football later in the day. We did stop at Dick's on the way back down to get Lucas preparred for his game. That did make him feel better about playing in the cold. At least there was no snow in Belton!!
Way to go Gwynn and Lucas.....they both won their games!!
Next year, we will be hitting one of the first games of the season!

Weekend rush

Ever feel like no matter what activity you start with you will never get them all done? This was our weekend. I was off on Friday for a much needed day off. I needed a break from the world. It was nice, very nice but not nearly as productive as I thought it would be. We did manage to get the entire house cleaned and the laundry done so I considered it a victory. It also meant we were going to miss the American Royale B-B-Q (again)
Saturday meant football for Lucas which meant we had the morning. On Friday we issued the ruling of no more shorts outside of the house. This meant Lucas was left with two options for pants. I would say three but I did not want him to wear his church pants on a daily bases. I tried to tackle Kohl's after the library and a haircut for Lucas. It was a flop. Lucas has passed the point in his life of picking his size off the shelf and going. Jeans are not his friends as he ruled so I let him get some more athletic pants as the defeat of not finding pants one likes or fits is one I am familiar with. At least I don't I have to worry about nightly laundry this week. This also meant that we did not make it to the Raymore Festival parade in the morning or the carnival. Saturday night was the Harrisonville DU dinner so we all went there.
One of Lucas football coaches got tickets for the entire team to attend the Chiefs game on Sunday. Lucas was so excited to go. They left early Sunday morning in time to tailgate and then all got to sit together. I hear it was a blast. Too bad the Chiefs did not perform better. Lucas said they learned a lot from the Chiefs on what not to do at their next game.
Now it is what I consider Sunday evening. I must find something to cook for them, straighten the house for this week and get ready for Monday morning. So much to do in one weekend!! We will have another 5 days before we can live it big again!!
Hope you were able to attend as many community activities as you could find to fit in.

Hunting

HUNTING SEASON IS OPEN

Since this is a family blog we will share the moments of everyone's life. Jeremy happy moment of the weekend came early Saturday morning when he went to opening early goose season. He went with Dad Clay, Big Jeremy and himself. They brought three home. As you can see Max and Sable are not much of picture takers but this is a very impressive limit since the season officially opened on Monday and this was their first change to get out and hunt.

So the freezer now has goose if you want to come over for dinner.

Goose season will close shortly and duck will open, then on to pheasant and ending with goose and snow goose season. Lucas is chomping at the bit to get out with his dad so there should be some late morning for Addi and I in a month or so :)

Gymnastics

Well the picture pretty much sums it up. Addi Jo started gymnastics on Friday morning. She loved it from the moment she learned it was just for her. She was so excited to learn she needed her own uniform as Lucas referred to it. When Friday morning came she was floating through the air on her smile.

Addi loved her leotard and spotted a blue one in the gym shop that she thinks she needs to have now to add to her wardrobe. If you ask Addi about nastics as she likes to call it she will be happy to tell you all about falling before getting into the building and hurting her knee. She will then go into how she learned to hold onto to bar and go through the "maze" as they like to call is. that is where you crawl through a circle tumble over a mat, crawl through a tunnel, walk a balance beam (that she fell off of) again before the coach helps you tumble. This is how they start every class with coach, in a smaller room where they can start to focus and get the "jumpies out"
The big gym. It is hard to imagine Addi will learn how to use all these pieces of equipment in a very short time. She loved flipping over the bar. With coaches help of coarse.
Learning to tumble

By far Addi's favorite gym activity is the trampoline. She does this weird dance jump routine up there.
I think every gym has a foam pit in the middle. The coach let them try it out. She set up a slide for them to slide directly into during "free gym" time and the had them jump into it off a mat if they wanted. Addi decided the trampoline was the way to go. Jumping to the end only to get back on to jump again.
Jumping, Jumping, Jumping Addi Jo talking to herself as she makes her way back to the trampoline.

Football game 9-26-09

Lucas had his 3rd game on Saturday. I can't believe this week will mark the half way point of the season. It really seems to be flying by. The pictures pretty much tell the story so I will let it. they continued their undefeated streak by pulling out a 6-0 victory. The Blue Valley team we played was a touch defensive based team. Lucas and the rest of the offensive line got their work out. Yeah, yeah they are only in the 2nd grade but come on they are playing better then the Chiefs are!!

Pre-game stretching work out.

One serious fan! Addi has discovered the art of socializing this year. When not hanging out with the big girls she does sneak in a few minutes to watch Lucas.

Hope to see you at a new game soon.

Tooth fairy

Well Lucas lost his tooth yesterday. He was at school and ran into Ms. Grossman. Ms. Grossman is a K teacher that Lucas has loved from the first time he talked to her. Apparently she is somewhat famous at school for pulling loose teeth. Lucas was truly honored when she agreed to pull it out yesterday. He even managed to hold onto the tooth without loosing it on the bus ride home!

When he woke up this morning he expected to find money in his tooth fairy pillow. Yep, you guessed right. No money in the pillow. Still a tooth and no money. I had already left for work before anyone else was out of bed so Jeremy had to field this one all by himself. Before Jeremy could clear the cob webs from his brain Lucas managed to think of the answer. Addi, Addi of coarse was the reason the tooth fairy did not come.

Now we do not encourage division between the kids but Jeremy saw a light at the end of this crisis tunnel so he inquired. Addi? Yes, Lucas replied. Addi came in my room early this morning, true it was about 4 when she wondered in to sleep with him. Addi must have come in before the tooth fairy and then she thought it was the wrong room so she left. Yes, yes that must be it Jeremy responded. Ah, a kid that can solve his own tooth fairy issues! God has blessed us!

The tooth fairy has already come this evening and Addi was told to stay in her bed all night so there would not be a problem. She left a bit of a bonus for missing last night and a note of explanation.

The tooth fairy better watch it or in the economy times she could easisly be replaced!!

Tooth v door

Lucas has had a loose tooth, the second one, for over two weeks now. It has given him much entertainment and caused much anxiety regarding when it would come out. Jeremy has talked many times regarding the use of the string around the tooth and door knob that his Grandma Lil was famous for using.

Lucas getting his tooth all hooked up

The string around the tooth pose

Well after the door close.....the check to see if the tooth is still there

Yep, still there
Second try

the door the tooth
the tooth won. Jeremy said he never appreciated the skill it took for Grandma Lil to pull this little trick off. It appears our problem lies in the string knot around the tooth.
Good Luck getting the tooth fairy to come back Lucas!

The start of football

Saturday was Lucas first football game. After much debate Lucas stayed in KC so he could go to the game. We think it was best in the end. No one wanted to miss his game after the season we had last year and this was his first tackle football game but no way we were going to miss a wedding Addi and Jeremy were in. It was a true delima around here! In the end Lucas stayed and Grandma Jan and Char took him to his game. We owe them a big thank you. I heard it was an amazing game. They won 33 to 6!! We are off to a great start. We have another game on Saturday and practice tonight was great so they should be pretty strong on Saturday after a scrimmage on Wednesday night and a couple more practices before Saturday.

I should get some pictures soon from Grandma Char. She took a ton for us. Between the text messages and pictures we saw it was as close as we could get to being there.

Way to go Lucas!!

Chalene's wedding

Saturday was the big day. The big day for Chalene and Addi both. Addi was a flower girl for the first time. Granted her commitment was over just as Chalene's was beginning but Addi took it just as serious. She did perfect. I wish I could share more or go into more detail but really it was pretty simple. She practiced like a pro on Friday night. She did argue with the Priest about the fact he thought she should sit with her parents. She boldly told him she would go to the front. On Saturday, she went straight to the front until Mass started and then she left the maid of honor's side. She did not throw her flower pedals but either did the other flower girl so we will call it a wash there.

She loved every second of it. She called herself a wedding princess. After the wedding we tried to get her to rest without luck. She was far too busy reliving the moments of the big wedding. I think we heard and then, and then, and then I walk down to the end, and then I stop and lene came. Addi danced at the reception until 10:30.

Jeremy was an usher in the wedding and did wonderful. We did not even make him practice the month before the wedding!! Addi was very impressed at how her daddy looked.

Alright, alright now for the part you all want. Pictures. Well I have no pictures of her walking down the isle. I have a couple but the sun coming in from the back of the church is killer so it did not come out. I have a lot of pictures from before the wedding so I hope those do.
Addi getting ready for the wedding.

wondering when she will get to walk down for real.
There she goes A picture with the bride. They look so cute together!

Hummm, do you think they would notice if I slipped this in my basket?

Hard to imagine she could be grown up like Chalene one day.

Really are you going to take more pictures?? Excuse me, no one told me about a second wedding princess!!

Oh, she is just a flower girl. Oh ok, well good luck to you.

I am not even going to say it. It would do me no good to remind them-no more pictures!!
Hangin out with dad waiting for some more pictures. A dancin girl!! Addi and Jeremy had a blast talking and dancing at the reception.

Thank you Chalene and Jarrod it was a wonderful weekend. If you ever need a flower girl, I know a wedding princess that would love to sign up for service!!

Sleep tight

Light night I tucked the kids into bed and started to do some work I needed to get done all weekend. I finished a couple hours later and did the walk down the hall to check on the kids before I went to sleep. To my surprise Lucas had a bed mate. I just had to grab a picture.

I stood there for about five minutes deciding what to do. I debated between taking Addi back to her and the fear of waking both of them or leaving them together only to face what I thought was sure drama in the middle of the night. I opted for the lather figuring what is one more night with some drama. Much to my surprise I was awaken by my alarm clock. When I checked on them they were pretty much in the same position. I almost hated to wake them.

I asked Lucas what the story was and he said he was awake in his bed and heard Addi (I question that) and took her to his room. I never saw her walk or make a sound so maybe this is the way it happened. In the end it does not matter because it is so stinkin cute to see them growing so close to each other.

What a bunch of cuties!!

A girls life

There are certain things you can only do with a little girl. One of those things, putting sponge rollers in her hair. It was so much fun. It did not turn out well, her hair is just too thin but she loved every second of it, even when Lucas was laughing at her!
