Christmas Pickle

Every year since Lucas could walk we have done the Christmas Pickle. It is a German tradition where all the children in the house try to find the pickle on the tree and receive an extra gift when that lucky child does. Well no one in our house is German but I do love traditions and games even more then traditions so I knew this one was going to work out well for us.

The hard part comes in the fact you have to try and find the pickle in here.

It is getting more and more fun now that Addie can really participate. Last year it was sort of a give me since she could not get past the fact she was allowed to be close enough to the tree to touch.

This year we gave Addie another head start. She looked and looked the tree over three times before we would let Lucas have a shot at it. I know you are in suspense to see who found the pickle...............

Yeah, not much of a shocker yet but in a couple of years I bet I post this picture first....

Shocking enough Addie Jo was able to find the pickle seconds after Lucas pointed to it.

And this year's pickle prize was....Nerf basketball set. Yippee.

It did not seem very fair to only open one gift so we let the kids each open one present. It was their new backpacks. As you can see they were very excited. New backpacks in December? Yeah, Spongebob did not last very long. Good thing Santa's helpers knew to stock up when they went on clearance.

Oh my goodness, there is something inside them.....

Books, and not books from the library. Sweet mom....
