Addie haircut

Caleb and Tyler are in town! That alone is awesome but the fact that Jen is also here with the kids make it even more wonderful. We headed over to see them all last night before the days got away from us and they were gone. We are extra lucky that Tyler has completed hair school at Aveda and is willing to cut and color when she is back in town. I decided to take her up on the offer this time.

It occurred to Jeremy when I was finishing up that this is a great opportunity to ask Ty to cut Addie's hair. As everyone knows Addie does not have much hair and the hair she has is like a frizzy fine mess. I am pleased to announce it looks so cute now. Even better Addie loves it.

Ty did great work all the way around and we are sad to see her go back to Chicago.

Getting everything all figured out. What to do, what to do...
Jen was nice enough to hold Addie's head nice and straight. She did really great and only needed a little help to keep her head held up.
A real cut and not just a trim. We call it the Chicago. Apparently it is very popular in Chicago to pull most of their hair forward and trim their bangs of that. Hey, why not.

What a cutie. I know, it is weird picture of Addie's face but she was all freaked about getting hair in her eyes so that is the squint. It looks so cute.

Thanks a billion Ty. Addie told everyone today that she got a haircut in the garage.

Trunk or treat

Last night was trunk or treat at the high school. It has turned into an annual event for us since we moved to Raymore. All the organizations and clubs at the high school and a few from the community decorate the trunks of their cars and the Seniors at the high school even decorate a bus from the bus company as a haunted house for the kids to go through. It is a great time for everyone. The kids love to go car to car and get their candy. I do find it a bit amazing though as our kids are a bit picky on the candy they will actually eat. Addie Jo is good for any chocolate, suckers and gummy snacks. Lucas well he is more of a problem. He will eat half a gummy snack pack and a couple pieces of chocolate but the rest is just wasted. Thankfully I am able to add this to the pile to hand out on Halloween-ah, I think I have a couple more years to this little secret.
Last night Lucas agreed to go as a football player as he had practice first. I came home and got Addie Jo changed so we could head up right after practice. We rushed up there after practice and the line to get into the trunk or treat was LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOng. I could not believe it. A few people that we leaving said they waited forty minutes before they got in but the line was not that long. Hummm, that is an interesting delima. After all we had tradition on the line. In the end Lucas suggested we head over to Sonic for some dinner instead and wait until the trunk or treat Friday night at his school Dad quickly announced we had a winner.

Here is a picture of Addie Jo looking cute as ever in her princess costume. She loved dressing up and I don't think she even knew what she was missing. She is just so excited to put on her princess dress.

Taralyn is 9

It is hard to believe but Taralyn has her 9th birthday party Saturday evening at Pizza Shoppe. The kids had a good time but my mind kept racing back to the time where she was far to embarrassed for us to even sing happy birthday to her at a party, to the days where she hoped for Hannah Montana "stuff" oh wait, we are still in that phase but really Miley is taking over. Now she loves fashion and fun and pretty. Oh what a pre-teen she is becoming. It makes me look at Addie and have a mental break down.

the proof she is in fact 9. The candle has been blown out, it is official.
Everyone's favorite part, the Presents!!! Ahhh, presents. There is nothing that will get a group of kids close together then opening presents at a party.

Happy Birthday Taralyn!!

Saturday football

Lucas had an amazing game on Saturday afternoon. The weather was great for a wonderful crowd of supporters he had come to watch him. Thank you everyone for coming out to watch him.

wondering why he is not playing defense
well next week is the big game where we play the same team we defeated in the super bowl last year. We will have a lot of practices this week to get ready for the big game.

Nastics

Addi had gymnastics on Friday and I ran up to see her and to get some more pictures. After all I must keep the blogger audience happy :)

Addi loves her "nastics" so much. I am pretty sure she would love any activity that got to be hers and only hers but I think this is even more special to her since she gets to do it with other kids she knows.

At the beginning of every class they have to listen to what they are going to do for the day and then practice in the small room before they go into the big gym.

Who would of thought tumbling over in a straight line would be so hard to do. It seems to be very easy to do on a level surface but to do it on a wedge mat, well as you can see that is harder.

Pumpkin Carving

Thursday night we carved our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. It was so much fun. Lucas picked a bat design. Mom picked a Mickey Mouse design and Dad followed suit with Goofy after his initial template fro a duck head did not work out. Addie opted for coloring her pumpkins, remember she had several from the pumpkin patch. Lucas was able to talk her into jeweling one of hers, he ended up having to do much of the work for her as it was a bit hard for her to push them into the pumpkin. I am pretty sure that Lucas favorite part was poking the jewels into the pumpkin and then cutting out the back for the light

I love to see their faces every year when they have to clean out the inside of their pumpkins.

Happy Halloween!! Don't forget to come trick or treat at our place!

Pumpkin Patch

This afternoon we headed out to Johnson's Farm for our annual pumpkin patch trip. It turned out to be a pretty nice day so we were able to take our time around the entire farm. The kids loved every second of it.
It was a good time for all and now all we have left is the carving.

Before we headed out to get our pumpkins the kids spent some time playing around.

and climbing on top of fire trucks
and running around

the annual pumpkin measurement chart.

Some lazy pigs when they are not racin for their oreo's
going through the mazes. First the hay bale maze
milking a fake cow. Addie was less them impressed with the process. She wanted to wash her hands right away!

Lucas thought it was a bit cooler to try and milk the cow. Watch out Grandma Jan this one could be on the wish list.
back to running around fun and sliding.

another maze Addie needed some big brother help to get around and get out

Addie not wanting anymore big brother help getting around and out

taking a break checking out the hay
going through the hay barn with dad. The biggest pumpkin patch enemy to mom, hay!

Once we made it out the patch the kids loved it. It took a while to find some great pumpkins and all of a sudden Addie started kicking them. She would find one she liked and would kick it as some sort of final test.

Lucas thought it was funny so he gave it a try and what do you know, the first one he tried his foot went right though. The entire side of it was rotten. Yep, that is pumpkin yuck on his shoe.
We took a little time for a science lesson. A lesson on how pumpkins grow and what they look like during the various stages. Addie is sure they are gross and wanted nothing to do with it. Lucas, well it went over better with him. He actually had questions that you could almost hear over Addie professing how ugly they looked.

Getting a little help from Dad.
Obsessed, absolutely obsessed over finding the cutie st little pumpkins she could find. I think she ended up with four in total.

This is how Lucas spent much of his time. running around looking for the perfect biggest pumpkin he could find. In the end he left very happy.

The loot
See all those little pumpkins in there. That is the proud owner!! Lucas pumpkin is the one standing up nice and tall.

Football game 10-17-09

Another cold Saturday means another football game around here. Really the weather was 100% better then it was last week. They played at one of the Blue Valley High School fields so the boys were very very excited. They even looked a little exhausted after they ran in their touchdowns. They continue the winning streak with a 19-6 finish.

Right in the middle of everything

Checking things out from the stands.

This poor kid never had a chance. Good thing the ball never made it to him.

Ready to block

Talking it over

Yeah, that is my dad yelling at me again. I will get em again just like last time, yeah yeah dad, just like last time
